How we make it
The Ember starts as a padauk blank large enough to hold the whole curve inside straight grain, which is the only way we’ll make a curved shaft. The bulb in the middle is shaped with slow, light cuts, then blended into the curve by hand.
Padauk comes off the lathe a startling orange-red and deepens to a warm crimson over time, so your Ember will keep changing a little as it ages. Like every piece, it’s sanded to 1000+ grit and sealed in several fully cured coats.
Why this shape works
This is our most intense design. The bulbous mid-section gives a distinct sensation on the way in and again on the way out, and the stronger curve angles it toward the front wall.
At 1.6" at its fullest it’s made for people who already know they like a fuller toy, and the wide 2.2" base keeps it stable and easy to hold.
Every piece is turned by hand from its own blank, so the grain, color and figure of yours will be unique. No two are ever exactly alike.
