How to Clean and Care for a Wooden Dildo
The simple routine we use on our own pieces to keep the seal intact for years.
A properly sealed wooden dildo is easy to look after. We use the same routine on our own pieces, and it all comes down to one goal: protect the seal.
Cleaning
- Rinse with warm, not hot, water.
- Wash with a mild, unscented soap or a toy cleaner, using your hands or a soft cloth.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Dry right away with a lint-free towel, then let it air-dry standing on its base.
Don’t
- Soak it or leave it sitting in water.
- Boil it, steam it or put it in the dishwasher. Heat and prolonged moisture stress both the finish and the wood beneath it.
- Use harsh chemicals like bleach, alcohol or abrasive cleaners.
- Scrub it with anything abrasive, such as scouring pads or stiff brushes.
Lubricants
Water-based and silicone-based lubricants are both fine on a properly cured finish. Unlike silicone toys, a wooden one isn’t harmed by silicone lube.
Storage
Store it clean and dry, at room temperature, away from direct sun and radiators. A cloth bag keeps it from getting knocked against harder things.
Inspect it
Every so often, look closely under good light and run your fingers over the whole surface. If you find a chip, crack or worn patch in the finish, stop using it until it’s been checked. Exposed wood is porous and can’t be reliably cleaned. If it’s one of ours, get in touch with us.
